Gala 2017-Thank you !

Dear Friends of Ballet des Amériques,

We are humbled by the outpouring of friendship, love, support and good cheer we experienced at our gala at the Wainwright House this past Saturday.

The dancers were honored to perform for an illustrious audience that included our guest of honor, Mr. Eric Bayer, Deputy Consul General of France as well as the Mayor of Port Chester, Mr. Richard Falanka, representatives of the Martinique Promotion Bureau, ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam and journalists from various news outlets. Thank you to the dancers and thank you for your appreciative applause. The energy of the evening propelled our student-trainee dancer Alexandria Ina Rose Bocca to win the first prize the following day at the World Ballet Art Competition Grand Prix in New York City, where she danced the same Blue Bird pas de deux with Mauricio Zenteno as well as a solo Cupid variation.

In his opening address following the performance, board member Frank De Ligio presented Carole Alexis with a Proclamation from Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino in recognition for her outstanding work in the advancement of the arts and culture in Westchester and internationally as choreographer of Westchester’s premier dance company and as director of Westchester’s pre-eminent ballet conservatory. We are grateful for this message of recognition and support from our county government.

We especially wish to thank Consul Eric Bayer for his kind and inspiring words and his offer of friendship and support. France and America are, of course, uniquely connected by history, and it is heartening to see this bond strengthened by culture.

We wish to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, our great team of volunteers who put on this fantastic party: Thank you to artist and interior designer Sara Touijer for the beautiful setting! Thank you to Ivone Hoyer, Daniela Barcello and Juliana Tsiamtsiouris for arranging the catering, the silent auction displays, for their help with invitations, their generous donations and good cheer!

Thank you to Frederick Wildman for donating the wine for our event, and thank you to all the individuals, businesses and organizations in our community who donated items for the silent auction. You are true friends and patrons of the arts!

And finally, we thank all bidders, winning bidders and donors for their enthusiastic participation and generous contributions!

It was a beautiful evening - gorgeous weather befitting the occasion - an evening to remember in fondness and gratitude.

On behalf of the Board of Ballet des Amériques: Thank You!
